Terms
Who we are
The Daily Door is run by The Daily Door. Questions: hello@yourdailydoor.com. By using the site, subscribing or bidding, you agree to these terms.
How bidding works
- Each calendar day has one ad spot (a "door"). Days run midnight to midnight US Eastern Time.
- Doors open for bidding 60 days ahead. Bidding for a door closes at 10 PM ET the night before. A bid in the last 10 minutes extends the close by 10 minutes.
- Every door has an opening price: $1 per 1,000 subscribers, at least $1. It is fixed when the door gets its first bid.
- You enter the most you're willing to pay (your "max"). We bid for you automatically, in steps ($1 below $20, $5 below $100, $10 below $500, $25 below $1,000, $50 above that), only as far as needed to keep you in the lead. The winner pays one step above the runner-up's max, or the opening price if nobody else bid. Never more than their own max. Ties go to whoever bid first.
- A bid is a binding offer. You can raise your max or edit your ad until bidding closes, but you can't withdraw a bid.
- Who is bidding on an upcoming door stays private. We show only the price and the number of bids.
Payments
- To bid, you save a card with our payment processor, Stripe. Nothing is charged until bidding closes, and only if you win.
- When bidding closes we charge the winner's card the final price in US dollars. Stripe emails a receipt. You're responsible for any taxes that apply to your purchase.
- If the winning card can't be charged, the door goes to the next bidder at the price they would then pay, and the declined bid is cancelled.
- Refunds: if we reject your ad, or fail to run it through our own fault, we refund you in full. We don't refund ads removed for breaking the ad rules after they've run, or because the ad didn't perform as hoped.
- Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank. We'll sort it out.
Ad rules
Every ad is reviewed before it goes live, and editing an ad sends it back for review. We may reject any ad at our discretion. Ads must be honest, legal and suitable for a general audience. We don't accept ads for, or that contain:
- Anything illegal, or that promotes illegal activity
- Adult or sexual content, dating or escort services
- Gambling, weapons, drugs (including cannabis), tobacco or vaping
- Crypto, trading, loans, "get rich quick" schemes, multi-level marketing
- Health claims or miracle cures, prescription products
- Political candidates, parties or campaigns
- Hate, harassment, discrimination, or attacks on people or groups
- Misleading claims, fake scarcity or countdowns, or impersonating another brand or person
- Logos, names or trademarks you don't have the right to use
- Links to malware, phishing, or a page that isn't the business in the ad, or changing where your link leads to something that breaks these rules
You're responsible for your ad and your landing page, and you confirm you have the right to everything in it. We can remove an ad at any time if it breaks these rules.
What you get
- The winning ad is shown on the site for its whole day (Eastern Time) and sent to all confirmed subscribers that morning, around 7 AM ET.
- After its day, the ad stays in the public archive while the site runs. We may remove archived ads on request, or if a link dies or breaks the ad rules.
- Links are marked as sponsored, as search engines require for paid links. We don't guarantee any number of views, clicks or sales. Subscriber numbers change over time.
The legal bits
The site is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability for anything related to an ad is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses. You agree to cover any claims caused by your ad or landing page. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and changes don't affect bids placed before them.
